New 2022 Volkswagen ID.3 Electric Hatchback Price, Redesign, Release Date, Specs – The UK government now allows more versions of the Volkswagen ID.3 to be eligible for its plug-in car grant (PiCG). After the PS2,500 grant, the ID.3 Pure Performance Life has a range starting at PS27,120.

Engine
The ID.3 is available in five trim levels: Style, Family Max, Style, Family Max, and Tour (equipment details and prices below). Pure Performance powertrains are available in Style and Life trims. It uses a 148bhp motor and a 45kWh battery. The Pure Performance powertrain is available in ID.3 Life models, which have a range of 217 miles. Style trim models have an approximate range of 215 miles. The Pro powertrain is above Pure Performance. It uses a larger 58kWh lithium battery and a 143bhp motor to generate an official driving range between 262 and 226 miles. Pro powertrains are available in Life and Family trims. The 201bhp Performance motor improves power and range without reducing it. It is also available in Life, Family ID.3s and Max models. The ID.3 Tour Pro S is at the top of this range. It has the same 201bhp motor as the Performance models but a larger battery (77kWh), which increases the range to 342 miles. This version of the ID.3 Tour Pro S is four-seater because it has to fit this larger battery.
Batteries Charging System
Pure Performance powertrain is currently the cheapest ID.3. It combines a 148bhp motor and a 45kWh battery to provide between 215- 217 miles driving range. This configuration is available in the Life and Style trims, starting at PS27,120 and ending at PS31,520 with the UK government grant. The Pro powertrain is above all of them. It uses a 143bhp motor and a 58kWh lithium battery to provide a 262-264-mile range. This configuration is available in the Life and Family trims, starting at PS28,420 and ending at PS31,140. The price includes the PS2,500 grant.
The Pro Performance drivetrains are available for ID.3 Family and ID.3 Life models. The Pro has the same 58kWh battery, but the motor power output is 201bhp higher. The range is between 258 and 264 miles. Prices vary depending on which trim level you choose. Only available in the Tour trim for PS38.800, the ID.3 Pro S powertrain is comprised of a 201bhp electric engine and a 77kWh battery that provides a 340-mile driving distance. Due to the additional battery cells, it makes the car four-seater. Every UK car has at least 100kW DC quick-charging capability. There are also two types of AC charging: 7.2kW and 11kW. The Pro S drivetrain is faster than the standard model and can charge at 125kW.
Interior & Exterior
The ID.3 design is quite different from other Volkswagen models. It stands out with its short overhangs, long wheelbase, flowing surfaces and unique honeycomb design at the C-pillar. The boot lid is black glass, with slim LED lights and black panoramic roofing. There are three sizes of alloy wheels available: 18, 19, and 20 inches. An electric car does not require large cooling ports so the main focal point of most ID.3s is their ‘interactive LED matrix headlights. These lights are known for making the car ‘flutter its eyes’ when the driver approaches. Dynamic Light Assist main beam control is also available on the headlights. This uses a camera mounted to the windscreen to monitor traffic and adjust the lights accordingly to avoid distracting other motorists.
Volkswagen’s ID.3 is also featured. Light technology uses an LED strip inside the cabin to communicate information to the driver. The identification. The ID. The LED strip will blink to indicate a fully charged battery and red for warnings during braking. The LED strip will light up to indicate changing lanes and signal for incoming calls. At 4.2 meters long, the ID.3 measures 1.8m wide, 1.5m high, and weighs 1,700kg. It has a 10.2-metre turning circle and is easy to drive in urban areas. The rear bumper of the ID.3 has a special towing bracket that can be used for transporting bikes.
The five-seat ID.3 interior feels airy and spacious. The ID.3 doesn’t have any centre tunnels, which frees up space between the front and back. With short overhangs, VW has been able to maximize every inch of space. Flat batteries make the boot big. It holds 385 litres when the seats are up. It also helps to improve the car’s handling by placing the battery at a low height. A centrally located 10-inch touch screen is available, as well as an LED strip for navigation and warning you to brake. Optional augmented reality head-up displays project relevant information onto the windscreen. All buttons are touch-sensitive. Natural voice control allows passengers and drivers to communicate with the car more easily. Safety technology is also available. An embedded camera on the windshield identifies road signs. There’s also emergency braking, pedestrian monitoring, and lane-keeping assistance.
2022 Volkswagen ID.3 Electric Hatchback Price & Release Date
The ID.3 was launched in limited edition ‘1ST’ models. It was available in Europe in three versions. After the grant, the UK received the mid-range 1ST Plus model, which cost PS358,880. All ID.3 1STs have been sold; orders for standard production cars opened in the UK in Oct 2021. The new 45kWh Pure Performance models were added in April 2022.
Volkswagen continues to expand its ID line of electric cars with the ID.3 hatchback and ID.4 SUV, but the German brand is still behind its competitors when it comes to electric commercial vehicles. The eTransporter, Volkswagen’s first all-electric commercial vehicle, is now available in the UK. It competes with other brands like Citroen Fiat, Toyota and Vauxhall. Ford’s all-electric Transit van, which is the UK’s most loved van, will soon be available for purchase.
